A Vision for Lynnwood’s Future

Lynnwood is evolving, and with that growth comes new challenges. My policy priorities focus on housing affordability, economic development, public safety, and community inclusion—ensuring that every resident has access to opportunity, stability, and a thriving neighborhood. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Lynnwood for generations to come.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS

Social Justice Advocacy

Mpiima is deeply committed to social justice, equity, and inclusion. As a steadfast advocate, he has consistently shown up for his community—standing against police brutality, fighting for housing as a human right, and speaking out against racial injustice and discrimination targeting minority groups. His work is grounded in the belief that every person deserves dignity, safety, and opportunity, regardless of their background. Mpiima’s advocacy reflects a lifelong dedication to building a more just and inclusive society, where diversity is celebrated and all voices are heard. He brings this unwavering commitment to his journey to the Lynnwood City Council.

TURNING PASSION INTO PURPOSE.

Mpiima is A Strong Advocate for Community Engagement

Mpiima is deeply committed to youth empowerment and community inclusion. He champions increased support for youth activities, especially sports, recognizing their vital role in mental well-being and social connection. Through his grassroots initiative, Immigrant Guide, Mpiima has helped immigrant youth engage in sports like soccer—creating opportunities for them to build confidence, form friendships, and feel a sense of belonging. These efforts reflect his belief that every young person deserves access to safe, enriching activities that foster growth and unity. Mpiima’s vision is a community where all youth thrive, regardless of their background.

HEALING, RESILIENCE & COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Demonstrating His Deep Commitment To Community Healing

Mpiima is a dedicated advocate for youths in Snohomish County, focusing on mental health and community empowerment. He has created safe, inclusive spaces where young immigrants can openly share their experiences and learn from peers who have faced similar challenges. His work fosters healing, resilience, and mutual support. Beyond mental health, Mpiima is the founder of Immigrant Guide, a grassroots initiative that helps immigrants and refugees navigate life in the United States. Through this platform, he connects newcomers with vital resources, informs them of their rights, and builds strong community ties—demonstrating his deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and the well-being of Lynnwood’s diverse residents.

Prevention. Possibility. Progress

Empowering Youth, Strengthening Communities

Mpiima is deeply committed to early intervention strategies that engage youth in meaningful after-school activities, helping them discover their talents while steering them away from risky behaviors like drug use, crime, and violence. He believes that prevention is key to building a safer community. Many young people face mental health challenges, lack mentorship, and have limited access to supportive programs. Mpiima is dedicated to expanding youth-focused initiatives that offer safe spaces, life skills training, and mental health support. He also advocates for strong partnerships between the city, schools, and community organizations to create a network of care that uplifts youth and strengthens families.

In the picture, youth are participating in one of the projects called Brave Spaces, which engages African immigrant youth in creative activities that ignite their talents. The project was funded by Schools Out Washington (SOWA). Here, they are learning sublimation and how to brand T-shirts—skills that empower them while also providing a safe space to share their challenges and build community.

HE STANDS WITH OUR COMMUNITY

Advocate For Equitable Health And Community Well-being

Mpiima is a passionate advocate for equitable health and community well-being. As one of five HIV advocates representing Washington State in Washington, D.C. in March 2025, he met with Senators and Representatives to push for increased HIV/AIDS funding, protection of Medicaid, and opposition to harmful cuts through work requirements or block grants. He supports the PrEP Access and Coverage Act to ensure all individuals—especially the uninsured and underinsured—can access life-saving prevention. Mpiima also champions funding for housing-first initiatives and harm reduction strategies, recognizing the urgent needs of vulnerable neighbors living with HIV and those using controlled substances. His advocacy reflects a deep commitment to health equity for all.

A PUBLIC SAFETY SYSTEM ROOTED IN COLLABORATION

He is Our Lynnwood Police Department Volunteer

Mpiima is a strong supporter of community policing and believes in equipping our Lynnwood Police Department with the resources and training necessary to serve all residents with compassion and professionalism. While some advocate for defunding the police, Mpiima believes our officers should be better funded and supported to fulfill the true mission of community policing. He recognizes that the core issue lies in limited training—particularly in de-escalation, mental health response, and community engagement. Mpiima advocates for the creation of a dedicated crisis response team, staffed with mental health professionals, to handle non-violent situations and provide care to our most vulnerable neighbors. His vision is a public safety system rooted in trust, accountability, and collaboration—where officers are not only law enforcers but also community partners. By investing in proper training and support, Mpiima believes we can build a safer, more inclusive Lynnwood for everyone.

ALUMNI OF THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE CLASS OF 2024

Mpiima is Ready For Office

Mpiima is a proud graduate of the Puget Sound Sage Community Leadership Institute (CLI), a transformative program that prepares community members for leadership roles on school boards, city councils, and in county and state government. Through CLI, Mpiima received training grounded in community-centered leadership, learning to evaluate policies through an equity lens and advocate for those most impacted by systemic injustice. The program emphasized critical thinking, inclusive governance, and the importance of uplifting marginalized voices. This experience strengthened Mpiima’s commitment to public service and equipped him with the tools to lead with integrity, compassion, and a deep sense of community responsibility.
